things are calming down a bit after arts walk, reception at Enviro House, etc...
Just submitted 4 pieces for the White River Valley Museum annual Small Works, Big Presents: The Gift of Art 2014
I submitted the two minis that were entered into The WA State Fair Fine Art Exhibit - Awareness and Spirit Flows.
Then this afternoon I thought I better hop to it and make a couple of Sumi-e....

Then I quick corrected the images and uploaded to CAFE and filled out the info. http://www.callforartentry.org is an online site that as many art opportunities. Very fast and convenient.
I've been working on my Etsy shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/NineLivesStudio The Olympia Etsy group decided to challenge one another to place 100 items up for sale. The discussion at the meeting had been that 100 seems to be the magic number. I'm up to 31. Many of the women actually earn a living selling their hand made items on Etsy so they are good resources and inspiration. I have been rephotographing the pieces, assigning inventory #, bagging them... Plus then I ended up getting rid of allot of extraneous images in my photo files, plus backing up to a cloud and on my WD external back up. Must be some sort of organizational bug going around!
I had started to post info about arts walk, etc. two weeks ago but the PC ate the postings and then busy-busy.
so a re-cap:
Arts Walk - I almost lost a sale for not having credit card reader so I applied for The Square. I found out that I can use it on my Son's iPad.
Sold only two cards and the mini mixed media that the person came back for!
Wildly drove to Shoreline to drop off art Saturday morning and was back in time for Arts Walk at noon.
I worked on these two bubble art pieces during quiet time at Arts Walk.
Reception at Enviro House was a quiet one but lots to talk about with the guests that did come in...
Well - that catches me up...
back to arting!
e
in the class "finger Painting on the Moon" that I facilitated yesterday we made crowns, bubble wands, and lots of art...
for example - here is a bubble piece combined with blowing blobs of ink with a straw to make the tree and then pen work for leaves & flowers and last but not least watercolor pencil to add a little extra color.

This piece is like a spirit guide... Cutting the bird spirit from scrapebook paper [sparkles which don't show up in the photo] and then using oil pastels to make the swirl patterns from the bird's flight. I want to add some sparkly paint for the magic of it...

Another Equinox is going to be "published" in the Collective Colloquy Monday online publication!
mailing address: Creative Colloquy, North 26th Street, Tacoma, WA 98407

another equinox
set the timepiece for 10:29pm...
on the dot its autumn.
half light - half dark,
a balanced outlook of sorts...
12 hours daylight - 12 hours night
the celebration -
mother nature is sending
her first big fall storm.
subtle shift charges the air...
mare's tails are enhanced in the setting sun.
I collected oak leaves to dry.
already they've turned a burnished bronze.
Maple trees have leaves with red edges.
Aspen leaves are golden...
evergreens are loaded with pine cones.
constellations are changing...
Orion will lord over the night sky.
celestial arrangement on my ceiling
will suffice once the storm patterns settle
from mid October to March.
thick clouds will obscure starlight;
downpour lullabies will be the norm.
hunkered down under quilt layers,
nights become shrouded dampness
lit by dimly glowing plastic stars.

finished the three from yesterday...
I painted the Kanji characters for "fall equinox" on the back of a piece of acetate with acrylic paint. I figured that way it wouldn't get rubbed off. I downloaded an image of the Kanji and printed it small to fit the acetate. Taped it to the back of the printed image and held it up on the window to get the reverse image.
Here is the finished piece...
