moral of the story: if it ain't boke, leave well enough alone!
I remembered my camera today and photographed the art the WC Pencil class participants as they were working on their projects.
Last week we did trees and sky.
this week they tackled a simple beach scene starting again with the sky - simple ratio of 1/3=2/3.
adding the snowfence and beach grass...
Below - note the trees from last week...
They are all doing a very good job picking up the watercolor pencil techniques.
Next week we'll finish these up and work on water reflection....

It was a wonderful day - talked myself horse. There was great entertainment all day. I donated a matted 14"hX11"w original Sumi-e for their raffle.
Here's what my vendor table looked like:
I sold cards, small prints and a few matted originals. I was happy to send people away with art to grace their homes. Thanks to all who purchased from me today.
I also handed out allot of Biz cards to prospective art class participants.
There were allot of activies for children, as well as a tea ceremony demo and ichibana display.

2014 started out interesting as far as all my Olympia Parks, Arts & Rec classes have all been canceled so far - only a few had a couple people signed up most had 0 enrollment.
However.... both classes at Panorama Retirement community are running.
Then, I was called for two In-Service days at the alternative elementary school this month.
Today my acrylic class participants at Panorama voted unanimously to keep going in Feb.! I forgot to bring my camera to take in progress photos. I didn't finish my demo because I was so busy going from one to the other. There are only 5 people but it keeps you real busy. The two hours fly past!
I was showing them how to use molding paste [white tree shape] and a gel with sand... to be finished next week.
Bainbridge Arts & Crafts had a cancellation for the two artist demos in February at the retirement homes so they called me
AND....
they asked me to bring up 8 to 10 new whimsical Sumi-e for their rental program. Plus I can bring up new cards as well.
I have arranged a Mandala workshop at the Lacey TRL for Saturday March 29th 1 to 3pm.
location: 500 College Street SE, Lacey, WA 98503-1240 360-491-3860
I printed Sumi-e cards today for the Saturday Japanese New Year celebration. I have original Sumi-e cards as well... keeping it simple and low prices. I hope to encourage sales by keeping low prices on cards and small prints.
This was the start of a watercolor pencil demo for Monday's class - we were working on trees and sky plus they tested their pencils colors.
Now 2014 is looking a whole lot better! Keep Arting! e
All I have to do is register it online and mail it in tomorrow!
Deceptively simple characters but between sketching, inking, erasing, coloring and reviewing it took a long time.
My scans are not beautiful - I did correct them slightly. I won't use watercolor pencils again on the sketchbook provided for the project. The paper is very light weight and it did get a little uncomfortable with the little water I added to to the colors.
cover - used rubber cement to glue a piece of scrapebook paper to regular copy paper to run it through the printer.

Ususally I collage, add drawings along with my poetry. This year, i deided to put two stories about my Elf characters - Sean and Shawn.
That's my character study sheet on the right - I drew many of the images freehand but I also used the lightbox to trace some images.

lots of erasing!
Today I colored in the images with watercolor pencils. Tomorrow I'll add a tiny bit of water to the watercolor pencil.
