I think I need to play with that technique with the dropping watercolor into wash and adding ink pen to the design.
I just posted the Summer Floral image on Zazzle on Wed the 16th. I received notice this morning that I sold a post card! Every penny counts and I'm thankful for every sale. http://www.zazzle.com/summer_floral_watercolor_and_ink_post_cards-239632275453333045
I've actually been having something purchased every couple of days
Always check on Zazzle for their discounts as they seem to have discount codes all the time on their opening banner.
They have a Two Day sale running now and today is the last day - midnight tonight:
15% OFF ALL PRODUCTS!
I had saved this watercolor from when I used to teach at ORLA. It was a demo showing them how to drop color onto a wet. The paper is a half sheet 140lb Strathmore cold press paper. The project was about letting the shapes be soft and then going back in to pull images out of the dropped color and
add details with a fine brush. Mine was to be a bouquet of imaginative flowers and of course, I never finished mine. Recently I started drawing with non-permanent ink black pen.
Last night at my Zen Ink class I added a little watercolor pencil and more non-permanent ink pen work.
When adding a slight bit of water - barely a damp brush - it moved the WC pencil and the ink. So I kept playing with water on the ink on the entire painting not just where I added WC pencil...
Keep arting - break the rules...

This link should bring you to the Krab Jab Studio blog. There is one column dedicated to the Divinity Exhibit with great illustrations of all the artists and samples of the exhibit.
Finally remembered to bring my camera... The following are some quick snaps of some of the students work .
THis was our first project [name or initials].
The fall leaf template
This design is white ink pen on dark brown cardstock.
This one was the bubble solution with arcylic ink in the mixture.
And tonight - Mandala template -
I finally worked a heart design on a patterned - too tired - drawing a blank on the type of paper - vellum.
We have three more classes left... It is so quiet during class - everyone focuses - very relaxing.
I'll finish this mandala template next week - my eyes were wearing out....
I unfortunately had to miss Olympia Fall Arts Walk due to illness... some weird fever, wicked chills, headache, nose drip thing - yuck - I slept most of Wed, Thursday and today - grrrrrrrrrrr I'd rather be making art!
I do have the mixed media piece in the WA Center for Performing Arts 28 Feet of Art fundraiser. Online bidding is open to the 17th for this anuual fundraiser.

I use templates in my Zen Ink class because the participants feel more comfortable than having to free draw.
this is my Maple Leaf template. I still need to photograph the participant work...
The scans don't pick up the watercolor pencil coloring very well.
this next one is a mandala template -
I've made other templates for the last four weeks. I am amazed at the beautiful designs the participants are creating. I also had them work on colored cardstock with white pens
which is a nice alternative to black and white designs.
It's wonderful how quiet the class becomes when they're all focused making the designs.
Keep arting.

I received notification today -
three of my mini collages have been accepted for Visions of Verse at Confluence Gallery & Art Center 104 Glover Street [PO Box 716], Twisp, WA 98856
(509) 997-2787 http://www.confluencegallery.com/
The poems titles and my mini pieces are as follows:
End of January, Up Here - Patrick McGann - collage - Winter's Dawn
The Road To Ruby - Patrick McGann - collage - Ruby Flower Mandala
Summer Night - Kelleigh McMillan - collage - Summer Twilight
I looked up the location today - Twist WA - It's a 4.5 hour drive and over the mountain passes!!!! I will have to make sure shipping is acceptable because I don't own snow tires or chains and I don't enjoy driving at night... Plus it would mean 3 trips [drop off, reception and pick up].
So a reminder for everyone when entering exhibits - always check to see if they allow you to ship your accepted work with a return prepaid label before you submit.
I haven’t had time to post or make photos of the projects from Finger Painting on the Moon a few weeks ago at the Olympia Center. ago..
The participants made a creativity crown and a inspiration bubble wand
I had three bubble related projects.
Blowing the bubble onto a paper with the bubble wand. I added the word dream to the bubble design.
I also had cups of bubble mixture with poster paint for color pigment. You blow lots of air into the cup until bubble rise above the edge and then place paper on top to transfer the colored bubbles.
Next they could "sponge" bubbles of soapy water mixed with poster paint. Squeeze the sponge a lot to create a fine mass of bubbles and lift the tiny foam and gently transfer to the paper - you could of course squish and spread but I like the patterns just gently applying the bubbles made.
I had the participants drop splats of ink onto a paper and then use a straw to move the ink. They could make an art pal... I added a single bubble from the bubble wand when it was dry. kitty looks a little grumpy!
Flight of Fancy with a bird and swirling lines and patterns flowing from its wings - which as you see I started but RL has me running and I didn't finish the design. We used oil pastels and worked to soften/feather the strong colors so all the colors bumped/overlapped a little.
I had finger paints, also a project using oil pastels with painted ink over for a resist as well as a few other simple projects or combinations of them all.
The point was to free up the imagination and have fun attacking the blank page with confidence...
Keep arting!
